On June 22, the 1st "CATL Cup" New Energy Innovation Competition co-sponsored by CATL and Xiamen University kicked off officially.

The sign-up for the competition is open to undergraduates, postgraduates and on-the-job postdoctoral researchers in related fields at home and abroad from June 22, 2022 to July 31, 2022. The scope of works includes scientific and technological research papers and reports, emerging application scenarios and new business model reports on electrochemical energy storage technologies, new energy storage technologies, hydrogen energy and fuel cell technologies, new solar power generation technologies, advanced battery and material characterization and analysis methods, material computing and device simulation, carbon neutrality-based technology and system analysis of the whole industry chain, new energy application systems and other new energy related technologies.

The competition will grant gold, silver, bronze and excellence awards. Projects with exceptionally outstanding performance will receive an additional 300,000 yuan (around 44,779 USD) for project development from CATL. In addition, the competition also gives the competitors a chance to present themselves and their projects: excellent projects will receive technical guidance and follow-up incubation support services; excellent teams will be given priority in the recruitment by CATL; the exceptionally excellent teams/individuals will have the chance to be selected to join the CATL Talent Development Program as top talent enjoying special treatment.

CATL and Xiamen University held this competition to set up a stage for scientific research talent and strengthen the in-depth integration of enterprises, universities and research institutions in the new energy industry, in order to boost technological innovation, promote the application of research achievements, stimulate the high-quality, innovative development of the industry and help realize global goal of carbon neutrality at an early date.
