Recently, CATL signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the government of Zhaoqing, south China’s Guangdong Province. 

Zhang Aijun, secretary of Zhaoqing Municipal Party Committee, said that Guangdong Province is striving to build the new energy storage industry into the strategic pillar of the province’s manufacturing industry, and taking Zhaoqing and other cities as the priorities to build an energy storage battery industry cluster and lithium-ion battery separator production base at the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary. Zhaoqing will actively seize this new opportunity in the new energy storage sector, further deepen the all-round pragmatic cooperation with CATL, work together with CATL to develop more iconic projects for the development of new energy industry, accelerate the building of the 50-billion-level EV and energy storage battery industry cluster, and strive to become an important growth engine of the energy storage industry of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. 

Dr. Robin Zeng, chairman and general manager of CATL, said that, in recent years, Zhaoqing has gained momentum in economic development, especially in the development of new energy storage industry cluster, which makes it an ideal choice for CATL to make strategic layout and deepen cooperation. CATL will give full play to its advantages in cutting-edge technologies and green manufacturing in the new energy industry, fully implement the comprehensive cooperation agreement. In addition, CATL will mobilize related enterprises in the industry chain to invest in Zhaoqing, to make joint efforts to turn green and low-carbon “construction drawings” into “real pictures,” thus achieving a higher level of mutual benefit and win-win development, and making new and greater contributions to the goals of peaking carbon emissions and carbon neutrality. 

According to the agreement, the two parties will carry out all-round cooperation in the comprehensive new energy application, green electricity development, and manufacturing. CATL will fully support the development of new energy industry of Zhaoqing, and contribute to building Guangdong into an innovation hub of new energy storage industry with global competitiveness.
